New decks for Pittsburgh's west suburbs
Wood or composite, off the kitchen or out over a slope. Built by Chandler's crew, start to finish.
A deck you'll use every summer
A good deck is the easiest way to add living space to a house. We build new decks off the back of the house, decks that tie into a covered patio, and replacements for old decks that aren't safe anymore.
Wood or composite
Pressure-treated wood costs the least up front. It looks great new and lasts a long time if you clean and stain it every few years.
Composite boards cost more but don't need staining, won't splinter, and hold their color. Most people who plan to stay in the house for years lean this way. We build the frame the same strong way either way.
What we build
- New attached decks, ground-level and raised
- Decks off a covered patio or porch roof
- Stairs, landings and railings
- Built-ins like benches and planters
- Full tear-off and replacement of an old deck
What drives the price
Size is the big one. After that: how high off the ground it sits, the decking material, the railing style, how many stairs, and how hard the yard is to dig in. A raised deck on a hillside takes more posts and footings than a flat one on level ground. Chandler will walk you through each choice so you can see where the money goes.
Permits
Pennsylvania's building code doesn't require a building permit for an uncovered deck 30 inches or less off the ground, but your township can still have its own rules. Anything higher, covered or attached may need a permit. Every township around here runs its own zoning, so we look at yours before we start.

Great company to work with, they built our deck & put up our fence. Fast service, great quality, very responsive. Highly recommend...
I hired Usenicnik to install a new deck. They tore down an existing deck and replaced it with a new one. It didn't take them all but 3 1/2 days. I was really happy with that. And I think the pictures speak for themselves about the quality of the work. I had no complaints! Recommend them to you,
Was very happy with the work done. They built a deck onto the back of our house. It looks amazing even better than we hoped. They showed up when they said they would. Very friendly and helpful! Highly recommend.
Common questions
How long does it take to build a deck?
It depends on size, but most decks take days, not weeks. One customer's old deck was torn off and replaced in three and a half days.
When is the best time to build a deck in Pittsburgh?
Spring is when everyone calls, so the schedule fills up fast. Fall and early winter are a good time to book: you get your deck before the rush and it's ready when the weather turns.
Do you build composite decks?
Yes. We build with pressure-treated wood and with composite decking. We'll show you both and help you pick.
Can you replace my old deck?
Yes. We tear off the old deck, haul it away, and build the new one. If the old footings are sound we tell you; if they aren't, we replace them.
Do I need a permit?
Maybe. Low, uncovered decks often don't need a state building permit, but townships have their own zoning rules. We check yours before work starts.
